# Powering

Once you have unboxed the camera and all other components, power on and initialize the camera (it is recommended to do this prior to on-site installation).

* Option 1 – PoE Switch (48V and 0.52A); (can both power and access the system)

* Option 2 – DC power supply (12V and 2.0A); (can power the system, but requires an ethernet cable to access and communicate). Note: An ethernet cable must also be connected if using the DC power supply, to configure the camera.
